With more than 25 years of experience in student academic success, Dwight Nimblett is the Program Director of the Center for Academic Success and directs the University Testing Centers. He credits his longevity in the academic success space to one simple formula, mindfulness. Just shy of completing the doctoral degree in Adult Education and Human Resource Development, Dwight recycles his academic gains back into the programming for students, the Center for Academic Success department, the Division of Academic and Career Success, and community. As director of the University Testing Centers, he is mindful of the emerging and important roles that industry certifications, micro-credentialing, micro-masters, badging, and prior learning assessment (PLA) now play in shaping the educational and career readiness landscape. Dwight, along with his testing colleagues, are committed to helping FIU position itself to navigate the exciting demands.
After a chance encounter with one FIU student who was diagnosed with and survived breast cancer, Dwight helped to conceptualize and form the not-for-profit (501c3), H3. Health. Hope. Healing, of which he is a board member and Vice Chair. Its mission is to “support breast cancer patients, survivors, and loved ones, as well as those who desire to improve their wellness by providing a connection to community-based, health educational resources”.
Dwight enjoys most sports, poetry, writing children’s stories, and most of all, the art of playwriting.
