What to Do Before Class

2021-2022 Common Reading Book "Sitting Pretty" Access Instructions

1. Go to go.fiu.edu/commonreading and log in using your FIU username and password.

2. After logging in, you should see a page with your code.

3. Once you have received your code head to e.hc.com and enter your one-time code at the top of the page.

4. Create a username and password when prompted and use them to read your book in the web browser or on the app.

*Remember, you can only use your code once and will need to sign into your Glose account using the username and password you created for the website.

  • Wait - we have to read a book? When was this announced?

    Yes! It was announced during orientation, and it is part of the FIU Common Reading program which is an initiative that will help you understand the academic expectations of the university when it comes to reading, critical thinking, and discussions.

  • Do I have to read this book if I have transfer credit that satisfied the First Year Seminar requirement?

    Absolutely! The Common Reading Program is for all first year students in the Class of 2025. Even if you're not taking the First Year Experience class, it would still benefit you to read the book as all incoming freshmen are reading it as well. There are also several events during Fall and Spring that revolve around the book including workshops, virtual author visits and an art exhibit at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art museum.

  • Do I have to read this book if I am in the Honors College?

    Absolutely! The Common Reading Program is for all first year students in the Class of 2025.
